The mount Kenya region is going through political metamorphosis stage. In 2022, they region fully endorsed and voted for president William Samoei Ruto. He was voted in massively by over 90 % of the vote rich Mount Kenya region. The region includes the following counties, Kiambu, Nyeri, Laikipia, Meru, TarakaNithi, Murang'a, Nyandarua and Nakuru counties. It should be noted that this is a region that is consequential and determinat in presidential election due to their massive numbers and ability to vote for a single presidential candidate. In addition, the region has produced three presidents. The founding president, Jomo Kenyatta, ruled for 15 years. Mwai Kibaki the third and Uhuru Kenyatta the forth both served for ten years each. We are currently witnessing an interesting situation, where after voting overwhelmingly for president William Ruto, the ground has significantly shifted politically in less than 4 years specifically post impeachment of former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua. As we speak today, the ground has aligned towards former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua. Before 25th June 2026, genz protest commemoration day, former DP Rigathi Gachagua asserted that the region is under attack as he has received intelligence that there was planned infiltration of GOONS during the demonstrations and blame proposition political figured. He specifically warned chaos and mayhem was being orchestrated to business owners particularly from Mount Kenya region, in Mount Kenya counties, and Nairobi and neighboring regions to close their businesses today and protect their business from losses caused by goonism. True to his word, the politically charged "opposition" environment heard him and many businesses have not opened today. This is a clear demonstration and indicator that despite mount Kenya MPs rallying under president William Samoei Ruto and even voting for the 2026 finance bill overwhelmingly, the ground has shifted as Rigathi Gachagua is the ultimate kingpin as his followers who controls majority businesses in Nairobi and mount Kenya obeyed his prior warning. On the ground, it is true to note that Rigathi Gachagua has influence in the region and president Ruto has to be very strategic when conpaigning in the volatile mount Kenya region. Rigathi Gachagua has spoken to their hearts. In June 2026 finance bill, only 40 MPs voted against the bill. We might see big names voted against in Mount Kenya region. Individuals like Kimani lchungwa and Wamuchomba are likely to be "swept" by the DCP unforging , unrelenting political wave that is taking Root by the day. It is worth noting that the former deputy president warned during his impeachment that the mount Kenya region is very unforgiving. We can see the paws of a wounded lion that is likely to pounce on the prey.
